Sperm-Egg Fertilization

  1. Sperm-egg fertilization generally occurs on the day of egg retrieval.
  2. After sperm preparation, sperm-containing medium is added to the egg culture Petri dish to allow sperm-egg fusion (fertilization) by nature. If indicated, Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) will be conducted. However, currently, our Clinic prefers to perform ICSI for retrieved mature eggs for assisted fertilization in an effort to achieve highly successful fertilization rate.
